I was a Plein Air live painter on site at Flamingo Gardens during their Flamingo Fest weekend 2023 and finished this painting in my studio. My mother was in a nursing home waiting out her last days on this earth dying from cancer. I remember video calling my younger sister who was with her that Saturday morning and showing my mother my set up and easel for painting outside and sharing how cold it was that morning. We all knew she could go at any time. Almost a month later, she passed away. She is at peace and in pain no longer in the presence of The Lord. As a believer in Christ, I know He and The Holy Spirit are with me and my time spent at this beautiful garden with people and life around me was memorable. While I was at the event for both days, this pathway with trees and greenery called to me. I kept being pulled to it as though it were saying, "take a walk with me" to ease my sadness knowing eventually we were going to loose our mother. All I could do was paint the way my surroundings made me feel and painting this scenery brought comfort and peace to me.
