"Midnight Voices"

Textures of Pestilence

Bring Death and toil to our soil

And sculpts our foreboding fear -

Sheltered from our neighbor's fence

The wilderness of night draws near

In the Midnight of our Hour

Voices cry, whisper and declare -

Amongst the stillness of this Earth

A gentle Voice calls to be heard

To chisel away the darkness at hand

Illuminating Hope upon these lands

My job as an artist requires me to be bold and vulnerable all at once to reach hearts and souls everywhere through the painting and poetry that pours out from me. Part of this poem paved the way for "The Sacred Stillness" from The Sacred Collection. My small work painting, “Midnight Voices” is an expression of the voices in the night of our troubles and fear. And just like the midnight hour of our lives in our world we are all going through a midnight hour together. It’s the voices of light and illumination we need to hold onto as the textures of our troubles, fear and anxieties grab hold of us. Too many voices are out there distracting us from this time of stillness for those of us who are quarantined at home. I am reminded from the many late night hours I spent holding this canvas, making and painting these meaningful layers of texture and color by hand to listen for the light in the midst of the darkness.
What voices are you choosing to listen to in the midnight of your hour?
