WORK OF CLOSENESS

"Spirit Journey", the second artwork in this series, came as a surprise. Working on this painting brought me back to an essence of the Native American Anasazi Indian. My Surreal Oil Works Collection includes two paintings about my spiritual wanderings into the mysterious Anasazi Tribe "Arizona Star Child" and "Where Star Spirits Roamed". The summer I painted this I was in St. Petersburg, FL visiting the James Museum and encountered a wonder of artwork centered on the Native American Indian life from long ago. I came across a life size abstract painting about the Navajo Indians that resembled the coloring and a bit of the abstractions I used here. I was in awe of the similarities and fully aware of the strong connection I have to this old country before and after America was discovered. After coming home from this adventure I painted "Mountain Call" and year later I painted, "Anasazi Winds". Since then, more footsteps of this walk arrived for a visit.
