"THE OFFERING"
I walk along the quiet waters
Where sunlight greets the trees
And rest my passions upon the altar

WORK OF CLOSENESS HONESTY AND HOPE
The Offering is a sacred practice of restoring the heart and mind dealing with depression and anxiety about my life and physical challenges in 2020. I needed to get away to a quiet place to hear my own thoughts as well as to not hear my thoughts while I listened to the sacred voice within. Walking in nature sometimes brings this kind of solace to me. After a long walk where I found a secluded path of trees along a canal filled with sunlight, I laid my heartache, frustrations and fears to rest at this place of stillness. Coming back to my studio, I prepared this wood panel as an altar where I surrendered my sorrow, despondency and apprehension. The more I gave up the darkness stirring inside of me with each painted layer, the more my burdens were lifted away from me. Colors, textures and symbolism of healing grace appeared. I was filled with a refreshing spirit of serenity. This creative undertaking evolved into a poem causing me to reflect on the precious sacrifice Christ gives to heal the brokenness within me. He invites us to rest our passions at the foot of His Cross. Whoever you are and whatever you believe, what altar are you resting your passions upon?
